MPL Corporation was founded in the mid 1960's. Since they have experienced continuous growth since the mid 70's and today maintain the status as one of the oldest, hand-poured cultured marble factories in the United States. All natural marble is formed from a rock called limestone by heat, pressure and natural resins in the earths crust. This quarried stone is generally dense, opaque and is known for its strength and beauty. Impurities present in the limestone affect the look and color of the marble that forms. For instance, when tinted by serpentine, iron oxide, or carbon, it will vary to shades of green, brown or black. Travertine, often included with marble, is a different form of limestone found in banded layers where there is circulating ground water; it is usually white or cream colored. All cultured marble is formed from powered limestone and is, therefore also dense and opaque. It is abundant in nature and is usually a grey-beige color. We leave it natural and add our own pigments and swirl patters to recreate natural marbles wide variety of veining and colors. This process creates products such as vanity tops, tub surrounds, shower surrounds, tubs, window sills, and the MPL specialty...tub/shower surrounds with tile effect. |
